BACKPACKERS’ Hostel Plan Revived For Historic Glasgow City Centre Building

21 November, 2020 | News

PLANNERS are being asked to agree that empty upper floors at B-listed premises in central Glasgow can be turned into a backpackers’ hostel.

Metro Inns Ltd want to convert the first, second and third storeys at Virginia House, at the corner of Virginia Street and Wilson Street in the Merchant City.

A previous application made in 2014 was granted permission.

The upper floors have been unused for 18 months, having previously been offices. The ground floor and basement accommodate three bars and a nightclub.

An open area housing reception, lounge and kitchen would be created on the first floor. There would be 30 bedrooms/dormitories.
