COMMUNITY Pantry Plan For Derelict East End Drill Hall

21 October, 2019 | News

A FORMER drill hall in Parkhead looks set to be turned into a community pantry.

Permission is being sought to turn the building at the former Parkhead Public School in Westmuir Street into a shop.

Owner Parkhead Housing Association — which converted the school into offices — want to turn the rundown hall into a members-run co-operative to be known as Your Local Pantry.

It will be volunteer-run and provide low-cost food items to pantry members.

The building would be restored and repaired and new access from Back Causeway would be provided.

The proposal is pending assessment by Glasgow City Council planners.
