DRIVE-Thru Tim Hortons Coffee Shop Approved For Ibrox Site

26 June, 2018 | News

GLASGOW City Council officials have approved plans for a 24-hour drive-thru Tim Hortons coffee shop at a vacant site near Ibrox Stadium.

It will be one of the first of its kind in Europe and is proposed for land at Junction 24 Business Park, Helen Street at Edmiston Drive.

The coffee shop will have more than 90 seats and employ 25 people, 10 full-time and 15 part-time.

A supporting document submitted to the council stated: “Tim Horton’s are looking to invest in the UK and have identified the application site as an ideal location for one of their stores.

“The proposal itself, represents one of the first drive-thru Tim Hortons to be created within Europe and will generate investment at the site and provide a number of job opportunities to local residents.”

The statement continues: “The proposal will redevelop a vacant, brownfield site within an existing commercial area. The unit itself has been designed to accommodate the needs of the Tim Horton’s brand.

“The drive-thru unit itself will be located at the south of the site, with an outdoor seating area to the immediate west of the unit.”

Thirty-three car parking spaces including five disabled bays will be provided as well as eight cycle spaces and four motorcycle bays.

The land was earmarked for further office development but there has been lack of demand.
