CONSULTATION is taking place over initial proposals for a ‘gateway’ residential development beside the M8 at Charing Cross in Glasgow.

A concept for a 22-storey block containing 180 build-to-rent flats has been drawn up for a site on the corner of Bath Street and Newton Street at Elmbank Gardens.

The proposal by Maven Capital Partners, Viewcastle Properties and JSM Developments is at the pre-application stage and is subject to change.

Documentation released as part of the consultation stated: “At the heart of the proposal is the desire to reconnect the city centre, Blythswood and Sauchiehall quarters to the West End, creating a new gateway development to the city.

“The proposals represent an exciting opportunity to enhance the visual quality and appearance of this key part of the city whilst meeting the city council’s aspiration to create a vibrant residential community with the city centre.”
