EX-Fopp Shop Building Lined Up For Restaurant/Bar With Roof Garden

27 August, 2020 | Food and Drink

SIX By Nico Holdings has applied for permission to turn Glasgow West End premises into a restaurant and bar with roof garden.

The application involves 358/360 Byres Road which contains the former Fopp music shop on the ground floor and Santa Lucia Restaurant above.

Permission was given earlier this year for the shop to be turned into a restaurant.

A statement submitted to the city council explains: “The intention for the site is to create one ownership with three facilities within — fine dining restaurant, bar and roof top bar with dining.”

The new proposal involves seating for 78 at ground level, a further 34 seats on the first floor and a rooftop bar with 56 seats.

The restaurant would be open from 9am to midnight and the roof bar 11am to midnight. A pavement seating area is also proposed, operating 11am to 10pm.

The design document continues: “The roof area will have small trees and planting to the rear and to the front with a green roof included to create a mini habitat for birds and insects and provide a pleasant vista for the flats opposite and from the bathing club / gyms to the rear.

“The roof bar will have a dedicated bar servery and will have covered areas to allow the area to be utilised throughout the year. It will be an asset for the thriving leisure/social scene of the local cosmopolitan community.”

The application is pending assessment by City planners.
