6 June, 2019 | News

A HOUSING association has applied to build 36 flats at a prominent crossroads in Parkhead.

The development by West of Scotland Housing Association is proposed for Springfield Cross, on vacant land at the junction of London Road and Springfield Road.

Plans for a six-storey block have been submitted to Glasgow City Council for approval.

There would be a mixture of one, two and three-bedroom flats suitable for families, the elderly and wheelchair users.

A large communal garden is proposed. There would be 18 car parking spaces plus cycle storage.

A design document included with the application states: “The development will bring a number of benefits including the provision of social housing, for which there is an identified need locally, the transformation of a brownfield site on an important approach to Glasgow’s East End, and environmental enhancements.”
