GO-Ahead Given For Cafe And Restaurant Drive-Thrus Near Glasgow Harbour Flats

21 October, 2020 | Food and Drink

TWO drive-thru food and drink outlets can be built on land between Glasgow Harbour flats and the Clydeside Expressway, council officials have agreed.

City planners approved a proposal by Glasgow Harbour Developments Ltd for a drive-thru cafe and a drive-thru restaurant on a site east of Sawmill Road on Castlebank Street.

Drawings submitted to the council when the application was made two years ago indicated the units proposed would be operated by Kentucky Fried Chicken and coffee chain Starbucks.

A document submitted to the council stated: “The proposed development will transform disused, vacant land into vibrant and welcoming drive-thru cafe and restaurant units thus creating a safer environment for local residents by encouraging footfall in the area and increasing activity on the site and throughout surrounding streets.”
