MASSIVE hotel developments — with a total of around 1,700 rooms — are taking shape in Glasgow, despite the continuing uncertainty caused by the pandemic.

The new Premier Inn at Howard Street, near St Enoch Square, is due to open in February 2021.

The seven-storey building will have nearly 250 bedroooms, a steakhouse restaurant and retail space.

Next to the Premier Inn site, two hotels, with a total of around 450 bedrooms, are being built.

The development at the Custom House site on Clyde Street at Dixon Street, will feature a four-star, 294-bed Clayton Hotel and a 162-bedroom Adagio Apart-Hotel.

The A-Listed Custom House building will be refurbished and will function as the main entrance to the Clayton hotel with public spaces including lobby, bar, meeting and conference facilities.

A 300-bed venue is well underway at the corner of Renfrew Street and Renfield Street, on part of the old STV studios site, beside the Citizen M hotel.

The four-star hotel is to be operated by Dalata, Ireland’s largest hotel operator, under their Maldron brand.

Two hotels near the SSE Hydro in Glasgow will feature Marriott International brands.
