ITALIAN Restaurant Approved For Vacant Paisley Road West Premises

A PROMINENT empty office building in Crookston can be turned into an Italian restaurant, planners have agreed.

The change-of-use application by Ristorante Leonardo’s Ltd was approved for 2375 Paisley Road West, at the junction with Crookston Road.

The restaurant will have seating for 60. Proposed opening hours are noon to 11pm, Monday to Sunday.

A report by planners stated: “The proposed development will allow the vacant premises to come back into use, thereby contributing towards protecting and improving the quality of the physical environment.”

The building has been empty for more than 10 years. It was constructed for a bank/insurance company in the 1930s and was later used as the offices for Grady & Co. Solicitors.

A document submitted on behalf of the applicant stated: “The proposal envisages the creation of an Italian-themed restaurant operated by an experienced company with a similar well-established and successful business in Hamilton.

“This unique little building occupies a prominent position on a busy junction. This is an ideal opportunity to regenerate an unused existing building and at the same time provide a valuable service to the surrounding, largely residential, area.”
