NEW Glasgow Riverfront Student Building Can Be Used As A Hotel Instead

5 November, 2018 | News, Hotels, Student Accommodation

PERMISSION has been given for a large new multi-storey building beside the Clyde in Glasgow to be used as a 290-bedroom hotel instead of student accommodation.

The 17-storey structure on Clyde Street is substantially complete.

How the building is expected to look

Permission is also being sought to alter the neighbouring premises — Riverside House at 260 Clyde Street — to provide a gym, cafe and meeting rooms for the hotel. There would be internal openings at ground floor level between the two buildings.

Planning documents do not reveal if an operator has been lined up for the premises.

The application by the site owner is in response to a change in the market. Permission had previously being given for a hotel on the site in 2007.
