DETAILED plans for a huge retail and leisure development beside the Clyde and Kelvin rivers in Glasgow have been approved by councillors.

The ‘urban lifestyle outlet’ near Partick will have around 120 shops plus restaurants, a 12-screen cinema, a large ‘family leisure’ unit and a gym.

The city council’s planning applications committee accepted the designs for the site submitted by Glasgow Harbour Ltd on behalf of Peel Lifestyle Outlets, although final car and cycle parking levels will be subject to further consideration.

New visualisations of the centre, which will be on brownfield land beside Castlebank Street, were included in a presentation given to councillors.
