PLANNERS Have A Taste For Six By Nico’s Dennistoun Restaurant Proposal

13 December, 2019 | Food and Drink

SIX By Nico Holdings Ltd have been given permission to open a restaurant in an empty Glasgow East End laundrette.

The eatery at Whitehill Street, Dennistoun, just off Duke Street, is to be known as Grub, according documents submitted to the planning department, which has now approved the proposal.

The applicants said it will become a “casual, neighbourhood dining restaurant with a gourmet twist”.

There will be seating for around 50 people plus French doors opening out on to an external dining area.

A statement provided to the City Council explained: “The main East End arteries of Duke Street and Alexandra Parade are fast becoming a lively cosmopolitan area with Bohemian lifestyles infiltrating this section of the city.

“This new restaurant will only add to the buzz and social scene for the neighbourhood.”

It continues: “The internal design will be keeping exposed fireplaces and some exposed masonry with the addition of a quirky shop-fitted bar.”
