
OPTIONS for the future of high-profile canalside land in Glasgow are to be drawn up.
Scottish Canals intend relocating their headquarters from Applecross Basin, near Speirs Wharf, to Falkirk.
Glasgow City Council officials state in a report: “This could prove both a challenge and an opportunity -– feasibility work on future uses of the Applecross Basin site is being commissioned.”
Scottish Canals have indicated their ongoing commitment to the Glasgow Canal Regeneration Partnership.
Funding of around £4million is being lined up through the Falkirk Growth Deal for Scotland’s Canal Centre that will bring a derelict site into use offering opportunities for employment, training and recreation as well as the new base for Scottish Canals.
